How it Works

Our Approach

SAHARA provides support groups and free medications to help people in eight community clinics in George and surrounds.

We advocate for these services to be made available in the public health sector. and for better-controlled alcohol sales.

Our comprehensive youth wellness program focuses on strengthening protective factors in communities to decrease HIV incidence, substance use, unwanted pregnancy, and violence.

South Africa faces a serious crisis with substance use. Substance use places an enormous burden on the fabric of our society and health system. Alcohol, nicotine products, and harmful drugs are associated with the leading causes of death.
